What Is PDLC Film Glass?

Why is PDLC Film considered to be ‘smart’?

The ability of PDLC to randomly refract light (i.e., scatter light) or to transmit light, depending on whether an electrical stimulation is provided to it, is what gives it its intelligence. Usually, an alternating voltage is used to achieve this, creating an alternating electric field over the PDLC material.

Although the PDLC can be activated by a push button switch, a light sensor, or a building automation system, it is only as intelligent as the control system that triggers the change.

Two different types of PDLC Smart Film:

1. For the lamination of smart glasses, non-adhesive smart film is employed. It is sandwiched between two sheets of glass to create switchable smart glass.

2. Self-adhesive smart film is utilized in renovation projects for existing glass decorations. It has a self-adhesive coating and may be projected. It can then be pasted directly on ordinary glass with switchable functionality.

Application

PDLC film glass has a variety of applications, including privacy windows, projection screens, and electronic displays. For example, PDLC film can be used in conference rooms to control privacy by switching from a clear state to an opaque state when a button is pressed. In addition, PDLC film can be used in retail displays or museums to project images onto a clear surface and then switch to an opaque state to reveal the exhibit behind the display.

Q: Should glass be tempered and what's the difference between Chemical tempered and Physical tempered?

To small size/thickness less than 3.2mm,we recommend chemical tempered.(surface toughen by 6-7H).

To bigger size/thickness above 3.2mm, we recommend physical tempered.

Base on thermal tempered, the fragmentation test standard / partical sizes & quantity could be set base on different thickness.

The glass flatness could be asked after tempering.

Q: What kind of glass will be used?

LightingWe usually use clear / ultra clear float glass for production, depends on customer's need.

Cover glassWe usually use AGC(Dragontail) for production, but also available in gorilla/NEG etc. base on customer's need

Furniture glass We usually use high quality flat/bending glass
