How the Curved Tempered Glass is made?

Curved tempered glass, also known as bent tempered glass, is manufactured using a similar process to flat tempered glass but with an additional step involving shaping the glass into a curved form.

The process typically involves the following steps:

  1. Glass Cutting: The first step is to cut the glass into the desired size and shape for the curved application. This is typically done using precision cutting machines or specialized glass cutting tools.
  2. Glass Edge Grinding: After the glass is cut, the edges are carefully ground and polished to ensure smoothness and remove any sharp edges or imperfections. This step is important to prevent stress concentrations that could compromise the strength of the glass during the tempering process.
  3. Heating: The cut and polished glass is then placed into a tempering oven, which is designed to heat the glass to a high temperature, typically around 600-700 degrees Celsius (1100-1300 degrees Fahrenheit). The glass is heated uniformly to ensure consistent heating throughout its thickness.
  4. Curving Process: Once the glass reaches the desired temperature, it is removed from the oven and shaped into the desired curved form. This can be achieved using specialized molds or bending equipment. The glass is carefully manipulated or pressed into the desired curvature while it is still hot and pliable.
  5. Quenching: After the glass is curved, it undergoes a rapid cooling process known as quenching. The glass is subjected to a controlled high-pressure blast of air or cooling jets, which cools the outer surfaces of the glass rapidly while the inner core remains hot. This creates surface compression and imparts strength to the glass.
  6. Annealing: To relieve internal stresses and increase the overall strength and stability of the glass, the curved tempered glass is then subjected to a process called annealing. The glass is slowly cooled down in a controlled manner to gradually equalize the temperature throughout its structure. This step helps to enhance the glass's resistance to thermal stress and improves its overall durability.
  7. Quality Inspection: The curved tempered glass is carefully inspected for any defects, such as chips, cracks, or distortions. This ensures that the glass meets the required quality standards and specifications.

The final product is a curved tempered glass panel that possesses the strength, safety, and other advantages associated with tempered glass while also conforming to the desired curved shape. Curved tempered glass finds applications in architectural designs, automotive industry, furniture, display glass cover, electronic devices where both functionality and aesthetics are important.

Coating Choice

AG Coating

product-232-221

The reflective surface of the original glass is transformed to a diffused surface by chemical etching or spraying. When outside light is reflected, it creates a diffuse reflection, which lessens light reflection and achieves the goal of eliminating glare, enhancing the viewer's sensory perception.

With the support of magnetron-sputtering technology, we are able to coat tempered glass with an anti-reflective layer, in order to effectively reduce reflection rate of the glass while enhancing the light transmittance. So the display image could be much clearer.

AF Coating

product-228-228

Based on the idea of a lotus leaf, AF coating coats the glass' surface with a thin layer of nano-chemical substances to give it powerful hydrophobic, anti-oil, and anti-fingerprint capabilities. The surface is more comfy and smoother. Therefore it’s much easier to wipe off dirt, fingerprints, oil stains, etc on the glass surface.

FAQ

Q: Should glass be tempered and what's the difference between Chemical tempered and Physical tempered?

To small size/thickness less than 3.2mm,we recommend chemical tempered.(surface toughen by 6-7H).

To bigger size/thickness above 3.2mm, we recommend physical tempered.

Base on thermal tempered, the fragmentation test standard / partical sizes & quantity could be set base on different thickness.

The glass flatness could be asked after tempering.

Q: What kind of glass will be used?

LightingWe usually use clear / ultra clear float glass for production, depends on customer's need.

Cover glassWe usually use AGC(Dragontail) for production, but also available in gorilla/NEG etc. base on customer's need

Furniture glass We usually use high quality flat/bending glass

Q. Do you accept small order?
